The jury voting quickly became a one-sided affair. San Marino started hot off the block and took the lead, before passing it on to first United Kingdom and then Austria. By jury number 4, Andorra went ahead and never looked back. When all juries had cast their votes Andorra had compiled a 44 points lead over Austria, United Kingdom, Denmark and United States. As usual, the points from the televote was given out in order of the jury result, starting from the bottom. When Andorra was the last country to be awarded their points, they were still in lead, and as it turned out they also won with the public, making them a clear winner with a 52 points margin. Bulgaria (having finished 10th with the juries) was the second favourite with the public followed by San Marino (6th), Austria and Luxembourg (21st). So the gold went to Andorra, the silver to Austria and San Marino took home the bronze with Bulgaria and Portugal rounding out the top 5. Botswana reached their first final and finished in a respectable 12th place.
Andorra debuted in GM11 and has been a pretty consistent participant since, only taking one major break from GM54 to GM63. They achieved their first top 10 result in GM17 and took their first medal, a silver, in GM64 before finally claiming gold in GM73 with La Oreja de Van Gogh. A few other medals followed before Pastora Soler was crowned as champion in GM102, and that last name must be lucky, because a male Soler: Álvaro became the third artist to win the trophy for Andorra in GM124. Lorena Gómez followed suit in GM140, before Andorra's results took a turn for the worse. Between their third and fourth victory, Andorra only graced the top 10 three times - including one bronze medal - and often got stuck in the semi finals. That was, however, all forgotten in GM185 when another Álvaro - this time with the last name da Luna - secured Andorra their 5th trophy. Andorra has since been less successful. Though they have won 3 bronze medal in the time since their last victory, the tiny country has often been struggeling lately. But noone cares about that now, as Mirela races to the top to claim Andorra's 6th gold medal. Ricky has been Head of the Andorran Delegation since GM53 and is responsible for all 17 Andorran medals! In total the tiny country has participated 193 times, qualifying for 124 finals and reaching the top 10 on 38 of those occasions. Well done Andorra, Mirela and Ricky!
