The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Ireland and San Marino, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Hungary
Countries receiving points from most juries / Moldova, 20
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Bulgaria in 11th with 8 points from Israel as highest mark
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Thailand in 24th getting 12 points from South Korea
Throughout the jury vote, the lead changed hands 12 times! It was Netherlands who took charge with the first jury, but the lead went back and forth between several countries afterwards. Germany, United Kingdom, San Marino, Ireland and United States all held the top spot at some point. And by the 20th jury Moldova went ahead for the first time and ultimately managed to win the jury vote, though with the same amount of points as San Marino. Monaco, Israel and United States rounded out the top 5. The public vote had, on the other hand, a clear favourite: Romania (who finished 7th with the juries). Again two countries placed in the top 5 with both the juries and the public, as United States finished 3rd in the televote and Moldova 4th. Second place went to Switzerland (just 14th with the juries) and Latvia (13th) took 5th place with the public. Putting the jury vote and the televote together, Moldova gathered the most points and won their second title. The public favourite, Romania, settled into 2nd place, and San Marino took home the bronze with United States and Ireland rounding out the top 5.
Moldova debuted in GM05 and kicked off their career with a respectable 8th place. However, when the semi final was introduced, Moldova had a hard time to make it to the final, and after having failed 5 times they gave up. More than 4 years later they made three returns without success, until the 4th HoD took over in GM89 and took home the trophy in his first try. Still Moldova did not stick with Global Music, even though 3 other HoDs gave it a try. Since their triumph, Moldova has only reached the top 10 a single time, before Nicole came onboard as HoD just last edition. With only 23 participations so far, Moldova is one of the European countries most rarely seen in Global Music. In fact, only Montenegro has participated fewer times. Still, to win two gold medals in only 23 participations is not a bad track record! Well done Misha Miller, Sasha Lopez, Moldova and Nicole!

The Winner
"Mahala" by Misha Miller and Sasha Lopez is a high-energy fusion of modern electronic pop and traditional Balkan influences. The song carries an intense emotional undercurrent, expressing a passionate and conflicted relationship. With lyrics that speak of love, betrayal, and emotional vulnerability, it tells the story of someone caught between holding on and letting go.
The track's production is dynamic and layered, combining haunting vocal lines with rhythmic Balkan brass elements and contemporary dance beats. This contrast gives "Mahala" a distinctive sound—both melancholic and irresistibly catchy.
Following its release, the song saw notable success across Eastern Europe, climbing national charts and becoming a club favorite. Its infectious melody and emotional depth resonated with a wide audience, helping solidify both artists' presence on the international pop scene.
