The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Norway and Poland, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Liechtenstein and Spain
Countries receiving points from most juries / Chile, 20
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Liechtenstein in 11th with 10 points from Israel, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan as highest marks
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Israel in 26th getting 12 points from Finland
Sweden was the recipient of the first top mark and thus took the lead. However, they quickly passed it on to Poland and then United Kingdom, Norway, Monaco and France. Then following the votes from tht 10th jury, Chile jumped ahead and from then on never looked back, cruising to a comfortable victory in the jury vote. Spain finished 2nd, Norway 3rd, South Korea 4th and Sweden 5th. Could the televote change any of that? As it turned out, jury favourite Chile did not feature in the public's top 5, so did any other country have a chance to surpass them? The public awarded most points to Ireland, who had only finished 12th with the juries. Next in line was host country Moldova (6th with the juries), Poland (11th), Kyrgyzstan (15th) and United States (19th). This was thus one of those occasions when not a single country featured in the top 5 with both the juries and the public. Chile took 7th place in the televote, and with Spain all the way down in 16th place, it was enough to stay on top and claim the gold medal. Norway took the silver, the bronze went to Spain and Moldova and Ireland completed the top 5, both for the second edition in a row. Kyrgyzstan achieved their best result to date finishing a respectable 12th.
Chile debuted in GM25 but did not become a regular until GM67. Barbara Muñoz gave Chile their first top 10 result in GM69 and only 3 editions after that was bettered by Denise Rosenthal and Neven Ilic's 7th place. A result which stood as Chile's best all the way up until their 56th entry in GM163, when Karla Grunewaldt went all the way to the top of the scoreboard. A handful of other top 10 results followed, before Chile decided to quit the contest after GM185. Since then we have only seen them once with no success, until they now return with a bang! Once again, Karla Grunewaldt is the triumphant artist, making both herself and Chile double Global Music Champions. Chile has now competed 77 times, reaching 33 finals and finishing in the top 10 on 11 occasions. This is Chile's second medal, but both are of the purest gold. Well done Karla Grunewaldt, Chile and new HoD Sebastian with only his second GM entry ever!

The Winner
“Deseo oculto” by Karla Grunewaldt is a haunting, emotionally charged song that delves into the pain and complexity of unrequited love. With poetic lyrics and a dark, intimate tone, the track captures the quiet suffering of longing for someone who remains out of reach. It speaks to the vulnerability of desire - hidden, persistent, and deeply human.
Musically, the song blends ethereal pop with cinematic elements, creating a moody, immersive atmosphere. Karla’s expressive vocals carry the emotional weight of the piece, balancing fragility with strength. The layered production and dynamic shifts mirror the inner conflict between hope and resignation.
While “Deseo oculto” didn’t dominate major global charts, it achieved strong regional success and contributed to Karla’s growing recognition in the Latin alternative scene. Its resonance with audiences comes not from commercial performance, but from its authenticity, artistry, and the emotional depth that has become a hallmark of her evolving sound.
