The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Netherlands, 5
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Israel, Russia, Ireland, Malaysia and Ukraine
Countries receiving points from most juries / Greece and United Kingdom, 17
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Germany in 8th with 10 points from Spain and Portugal as highest marks
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Russia in 24th getting 12 points from Netherlands
In the beginning the points flew in all directions, and the lead thus changed frequently. Denmark took the lead after the first jury and then passed it on to United Kingdom, Greece, Belgium, Ireland and ultimately Canada, who stayed on top from the 16th jury till the end. They went into the televote with a 13 points lead over United Kingdom who was closely followed by Netherlands, Belgium and Greece. The only country of this top 5 not to hold the lead at some point was Netherlands, but interestingly or maybe exactly because of this, they won the public vote way ahead of Italy, who had only finised 21st with the juries. United Kingdom took 3rd place in the televote, with South Korea (20th with the juries) and Slovakia (22nd) rounding out the top 5. Jury favorite, Canada, finished only 9th with the public and that was not enough to keep Netherlands down. The Dutch raised to the top, winning by 10 points over Canada, while United Kingdom took home the bronze. The top 5 was rounded out by Greece and Ireland, with the latter reaching the top 5 for 4 consecutive editions!
Netherlands was one of the founding members of Global Music, but they had to wait until their 99th participation to win the big trophy! Their first top 10 result was achieved in GM07, and the first medal - one of bronze - came in GM09. It was, however, always been up and down for Netherlands in the beginning, and they missed the final in almost every third participation. They also come very close to victory before their first triumph, winning 4 silver medals, first claimed by Glennis Grace in GM29 and then followed by Petra Berger in GM42, Kim-Lian and Linda Bengtzing in GM49 and Mr Probz in GM106. And then finally in GM113 Lisa Lois finished on top bringing Global Music to Netherlands for the first time. A few more medals followed, before a new HoD took over the reigns in GM145. Netherlands then did really well with 25 top 10 finishes including 13 medals! They took home the trophy in GM152, when HAEVN collected most points and then again with Davina Michelle in GM159, Duncan Laurence in GM165, Ilse DeLange and Michael Schulte in GM179 and Wulf in GM206. HAEVN came close to a second trophy, taking the silver in GM212, before succeeding in becoming Double Global Music Champions just a few editions ago. And now Within Tempation - with a little Ukrainian help - secures the 8th gold medal for the Dutch! Javier took over as HoD for the Dutch in GM205, and this is already his third gold with Netherlands to go with the one he won for New Zealand. Well done Netherlands, Within Temptation, Jerry Heill and Javier!

The Winner
"Sing Like a Siren" by Within Temptation and Jerry Heil is a powerful collaboration that merges symphonic metal with ethereal pop influences. The track carries an enchanting yet dramatic atmosphere, with soaring vocals from both Sharon den Adel and Jerry Heil weaving together to create a striking contrast between strength and vulnerability.
Thematically, the song draws on the mythical image of the siren, using it as a metaphor for resilience, allure, and the power of voice in the face of struggle. Its lyrics speak of transformation and empowerment, portraying the act of singing as a way to overcome hardship and reclaim strength.
Musically, it balances Within Temptation’s trademark cinematic intensity with Jerry Heil’s more delicate, modern tone, resulting in a unique fusion that feels both fresh and timeless. Upon release, "Sing Like a Siren" charted notably in several European countries, with strong streaming traction boosting its visibility and cementing it as one of the standout collaborations in Within Temptation’s recent discography.
