The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Denmark, Italy and Turkey, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Denmark and Russia
Countries receiving points from most juries / Denmark, 21
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Germany in 7th with 10 points from Liberia as highest mark
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / South Korea in 23rd getting 12 points from Spain
The lead changed several times throughout the jury vote, but it was always centered around the northwest of the European mainland. Liechtenstein came out of the starting blocks running and took turns on the top of the scoreboard with Germany for a while. The lead was then passed on to Belgium, Denmark and finally Netherlands, who ended up as the jury winner ahead of Libya, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Switzerland. Interestingly, the rest of the top 5 had never been in the lead, but they were all within striking distance going into the televote. The public placed Netherlands just outside their top 5, so could any of the other countries leapfrog the jury favorite? The televote awarded most points to first-time finalist, Libya, but they were closely followed by China (only 19th with the juries), Belgium (8th), Denmark (6th) and Turkey (14th). Still the support for Libya among the public was big enough for the North African country to sprint to the victory with a comfortable lead over Netherlands. Belgium just edged out Denmark for the bronze, and Ukraine rounded out the top 5.
Libya actually debuted back in GM76, but they failed to qualify for the final and then that was that until last edition when they returned for a second try. Again they failed to qualify, but they were so close that they decided to have another go - and what a great decision! Not only did Libya make it to the final for the first time - they sprinted their way to the trophy! Having competed in Global Music every single edition since GM70, this is the first victory for Libyan HoD Adam! Well done Libya, Bahjat and Adam!

The Winner
"Taboo" by Bahjat is a moody and evocative pop track that blends emotional vulnerability with a sleek, contemporary sound. The song explores the tension of wanting something - or someone - that feels off-limits, capturing the push-and-pull between desire and restraint. Its lyrics convey both longing and inner conflict, creating a relatable portrait of forbidden attraction and the feelings we try to hide.
Musically, "Taboo" is built on smooth vocals, atmospheric production, and a hypnotic groove that enhances its intimate tone. Bahjat’s expressive delivery adds depth to the song, allowing the emotional nuances to shine through while maintaining a polished pop sensibility.
In terms of reception, "Taboo" performed well within Bahjat’s growing international audience, especially across online platforms where his distinct “A-Pop” style continues to gain recognition. The song’s emotional honesty and modern production helped it stand out, reinforcing Bahjat’s position as an emerging voice in contemporary pop.
