Welcome to Toulouse
"Life in the slow Lane"
On the Garonne River, Toulouse is on the site of an ancient Roman settlement, and even today, many of the smaller streets follow their Roman counterparts, while many of the red brick buildings are built in a pseudo-Roman style. These buildings are also what gives Toulouse its nickname La Ville Rose, or the Pink City. Toulouse has become a center of aviation and spaceflight in the past 20 years, yet the city has remained relatively unchanged despite the economic boom. Driving is difficult and parking is limited in the downtown area; despite this being a big city, the historical center in downtown is quite small, so you can walk to most attractions in the district and go sightseeing on foot quite comfortably.

Colombia got off to the best possible start, getting the top mark from the first 2 juries. However, they soon passed the lead to Ireland, who battled for first place with Denmark, before France caught up about halfway through the voting. From then on, there was no doubt that France would make The Double for the second time helped by a massive 9 top marks including 4 in a row! Denmark took the silver and Ireland the bronze, while United States and Switzerland rounded out the top 5.
France debuted in GM/03 and has so far competed 82 times. In the beginning, France had a tough time in the contest. Expectations were high for the big country, but somehow they could not quite deliver. The top tens came only in about every 4th edition, and though they did win 3 bronze medals in the first 50 editions, they also very often failed to qualify for the final. Then in GM/55 a new HoD came on board and suddenly things turned around for the better. The first victory finally came in GM/60 and within just 5 editions France took home medals 3 times! Just when things seemed to be going downhill again, yet another new HoD - David, the current HoD - in GM/86 pushed new blood into the French team and within the last 15 editions, he has triumphed on top of the podium 5 times! France now has a total of 14 medals and a further 22 top 10 results. Well done France, Kendji and David!
