Global Music 225: Brasilia

Welcome to Brasilia!
As Alexia Evellyn managed to win the contest and give Brazil its 2nd trophy, we are moving way south to the biggest South American country, settling in its capital Brasilia! 43 countries have signed up to participate, which is one less than last time! GM225 sees the return of the staple houses China and Finland and the more exotic and rarely seen Cape Verde, Kyrgyzstan and São Tomé & Príncipe. To represent the latter, we welcome a new member to our family! Welcome África Flores! There are 4 Global Music Champions in the line-up this time and another 7 Medallists are fighting to be able to better their previous result. All these medallists will battle against a string of other returnees as well as a lot of debuting artists. Who will come out on top is up to you! The first hurdle in Brasilia is the semi finals, from which 21 countries will qualify for the final as usual. We are so excited, so let's get inside Arena BRB Mané Garrincha for the semi finals! There is a max of 100 songs shown on the country pages. To get to the remaining songs, you simply click on the 3 small dots (marked with a green circle on the picture to the left) and choose Play on Spotify. You are then transferred to the complete list on Spotify. I hope you will enjoy the easy access to all the music of the past editions. |

Welcome to Perth! As Stan Walker managed to win the contest and give Australia its 8th trophy, we are moving down under, settling in the beautiful city of Perth in Western Australia. 43 countries have signed up to participate, which is one less than last time! Apart from Cyprus taking a break, no other changes are made to the line up of countries participating. 3 Global Music Champions are giving it another go, including the Double Champion Faouzia for Morocco. She will battle against a string of other returnees as well as a lot of debuting artists. Who will come out on top is up to you! As Annalisa on her 18th attempt finally managed to win the contest and give San Marino its 7th trophy, we are moving south, settling in the small town of Serravalle which also hosted GM121. 41 countries have signed up to participate, which is the same as last time! 2023 Super Final - The Grand Final

All the votes in Stage 2 have been counted, and the winners of the 20 duels will proceed to Stage 3 of the 2023 Super Final!
THE GRAND FINALE In the Grand Finale the 12 winners of 2023 join the game. This year the final features 6 songs, which have fought their way through the two first stages to earn a spot in the Grand Finale despite not winning a medal in 2023. So let's get back to Cluj-Napoca to listen to all these great songs, and then you can vote for your favourites. Voting is not mandatory, but you can vote for your own songs and have your say in selecting the very best of 2023. Get to it! Deadline for voting in The Grand Finale is January 27th. |

It looks like the picture above to the right. So now you can listen to the songs directly on the page or in your Spotify app, if you prefer.
All you need is a Spotify profile to be able to listen to the songs in full lenght. You don't need to pay for subscription, unless you want to avoid the ads played every five songs or so.
Personally, I think this is a great new feature, and I think most of you are already using Spotify, so it should be to your benefit as well.
If you like this, I might make this a regular thing for all editions.

2023 SUPER FINAL - Stage 2

24 players spend a little time on picking their favourites and all the votes for Stage 1 of the Super Final have been counted, and we have found the 16 songs proceeding to Stage 2.
The 2023 songs winning either a silver or a bronze medal throughout the year now join the game. Along with the 16 qualifiers from the first round, they have been drawn into 20 duels. Again, all you have to do is pick your favourite song of the two songs competing in each duel. Very simple! Thanks to all players who voted in Stage 1!
