The Result

Countries receiving most 12 points / Belgium and Monaco, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Spain, Serbia and Morocco
Countries receiving points from most juries / North Macedonia, 21
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Finland in 3rd with 10 points from France, United States, Andorra, San Marino and Israel as highest marks
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Czech Republic in 21st getting 12 points from Slovakia and Russia

Though France took the first top mark, the jury vote quickly turned into a battle between Finland and Monaco. They took turn leading the scoreboard, and it was Monaco who came out on top ahead of Finland, Italy, Spain and North Macedonia. Then came the public vote. Would they finally allow Monaco to claim victory? The televote had a completely different favourite than the juries. In fact China had only finished 25th with the juries, whereas Monaco only finished 20th with the juries! The rest of the public top 5 was made up of North Macedonia, Sweden (20th with the juries), Belgium (11th) and Norway (9th). Ultimately, the second place in the televote was enough for North Macedonia to leap over 4 countries and take home the trophy. Monaco again had to settle for the silver and Finland won the bronze. The top 5 was rounded out by Italy and Spain.

North Macedonia debuted in GM04 and finished in the top 10 on their first two participations. Their 4th place in GM05 remained their best result for the longest time, as North Macedonia never became a constant fixture in the contest, but came and went and often changed HoD. The first medal was won by the 10th HoD in GM102, when Dimitar Andonovski finished as runner-up. Still, a handful of editions later North Macedonia again quit the contest and stayed away for 70 editions only returning  in GM178. When they finally made their comeback they did so with a smash, winning their second silver medal at the hands of Lara Ivanova. It was, however, not enough to keep them interested in the game. That was until Pane became the 13th HoD in GM183 and claimed the first gold medal for North Macedonia in only his second attempt. Antonia Gigovska started a golden period for her country, as they finished as runner-ups in the following 2 editions and acchieved several other top 10 results after that. However, the last of those came in GM198, but North Macedonia did not give up and now they strike gold again! In total they have now participated 85 times, reaching 50 finals, finishing in the top 10 18 times and winning 6 medals.  Well done North Macedonia, Lozano and Pane!

"Maskenbal" by Lozano is a powerful pop ballad that blends emotional depth with theatrical flair. The title, meaning "Masquerade," sets the tone for a song about hiding true feelings and the complexities of relationships masked by pretense. Lozano’s soaring vocals deliver a poignant performance, capturing the inner turmoil of someone caught in the struggle between authenticity and facade. The song’s orchestral elements and dynamic arrangement create a dramatic atmosphere, enhancing its themes of deception and vulnerability.

"Maskenbal" made a notable impact, especially in Lozano’s home region, gaining attention for its heartfelt lyrics and standout vocal performance. Its success on regional charts reflects the emotional resonance it holds for listeners, showcasing Lozano’s ability to connect deeply with his audience through powerful storytelling and compelling musicality.
