The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Andorra, Spain and United Kingdom, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Finland, Liechtenstein, Israel and Portugal
Countries receiving points from most juries / Andorra and Norway, 22
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Australia in 12th with 10 points from Andorra, Russia and Ukraine as highest marks
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Albania in 23rd getting 12 points from Norway
Though the lead changed several times throughout the jury voting, it was pretty much just passed around among the Nordic countries. Norway got the first top mark, but Malta quickly took over, before the lead went back north to Finland and then on to Denmark and Sweden. Towards the end Andorra took first place, but when all the jury votes were counted, Norway was back where they started in the lead. Andorra, Finland, Denmark and Netherlands followed to complete the top 5. But as we have becom accustomed to, the jury and the televote do not align. The only thing the two could agree upon this time, was to place Andorra 2nd. The televote favoured United Kingdom, who was only 14th with juries. Andorra took second place ahead of China (15th with the juries), Spain (11th) and Bosnia-Herzegovina (22nd). Norway, who won the jury vote, only placed 14th with the televote and could not hang on to the lead. In stead Andorra claimed a clear victory with a 30 points margin, and Norway had to settle for the silver. Spain climbed to take the bronze, and Finland and United Kingdom rounded out the top 5.
Andorra debuted in GM11 and has been a pretty consistent participant since, only taking one major break from GM54 to GM63. They achieved their first top 10 result in GM17 and took their first medal, a silver, in GM64 before finally claiming gold in GM73 with La Oreja de Van Gogh. A few other medals followed before Pastora Soler was crowned as champion in GM102, and that last name must be lucky, because a male Soler: Álvaro became the third artist to win the trophy for Andorra in GM124. Lorena Gómez followed suit in GM140, before Andorra's results took a turn for the worse. Since their last triumph the tiny country has only graced the top 10 three times - including one bronze medal - and has often gotten stuck in the semi finals. That is, however, all forgotten now, as another Álvaro - this time with the last name da Luna - secures Andorra their 5th trophy. Ricky has been Head of the Andorran Delegation since GM53 and is responsible for all 13 Andorran medals! In total the tiny country has participated 154 times, qualifying for 100 finals and reaching the top 10 on 33 of those occasions. Well done Andorra, Álvaro de Luna and Ricky!
