Welcome to Andorra la Vella
"perched on Europe's Pyrenees Rooftop"
Tucked high in the Pyrenees and home to fewer than 65,000 residents, Andorra la Vella seems at first an unlikely tourist hotspot. However, its shopping opportunities, cultural delights, and proximity to world-class ski slopes draw millions of international visitors to this tiny capital every year. It is a city of two halves, each with its own attractions. The cobbled streets of the picturesque Old Town showcase Andorra's most interesting and impressive buildings, including ancient churches, while the more modern north side of town bustles with high-end stores and restaurants. Luxury goods are generally much cheaper here than elsewhere in Europe because of the country's low tax rates.

The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Denmark, 6
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Portugal, United States and Macau
Countries receiving points from most juries / Morocco, 25
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Poland in 10th with 10 points from Greece as highest mark
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Greece in 25th getting 12 points from South Korea and Latvia
Malta took the early lead, and Ireland held it for a short while, but apart from this it was Morocco all the way. When all the juries had voted, Morocco had built a comfortable lead over Denmark, Ireland, France and United Kingdom. But would the lead be as big after the televoters had had their say? The televote was won by Lebanon, who had placed 7th with the juries. Portugal was a distant second, having only placed 21st with the juries. Morocco took third place ahead of Netherlands and Denmark, and that was in the end enough to stay on top of the scoreboard claiming victory. Denmark also held on to the silver, and Lebanon's points from the televote lifted them to third place overall. Ireland and France rounded out the top 5.
Morocco debuted all the way back in GM04 and was a regular participant up until GM17, racking up 2 top 10 results.. After a very long break, they returned in GM72, but their particpations were very sporadic and their results dismal. Then in GM132 a new HoD took over and Morocco once again became a regular contestant. Their results also improved with several appearances in the finals and even a silver medal for Faouzia in GM157, before she took it one step futher and gave Morocco their first gold medal in GM169. Following three non-qualifications, Morocco quit the contest after GM180, but this edition saw them back with Anthony as new HoD. And what a comeback! In total Morocco has now participated 62 times, reached 36 finals, finished 9 times in the top 10 and won 4 medals. Faouzia takes home her second gold medal, bringing her medal tally to three. It is also Anthony's second trophy, as he has previously won for DR Congo. Well done Morocco, Faouzia and Anthony!
