Welcome to Beijing
"The Heart of Chinese History"
As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance. Your Beijing itinerary should reflect the grandiosity of its reputation and its role on the national and international stage, with outings to monuments like the nearby sections of the Great Wall, the central square, the national museums, and the imperial temples and palaces. But a trip to Beijing should also be enjoyed on the human scale of the millions of people who call it home. Sample the various Chinese cuisines aggregated in the city's restaurants, visit the zoos and parks, and ride the extensive, English-friendly subway system that connects the far flung points of this vast, fast-paced city.

Legendary ABBA took Sweden to the top of the scoreboard after only a few sets of votes. However, they quickly had to pass on the baton to Netherlands, who about halfway through the jury voting was passed by North Macedonia. The Balkan country consistantly received points and ended up winning the jury vote ahead of Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore and Denmark. The question was now if a small 4 points lead was enough to keed the Swedes at bay in the televote. As witnessed so often before, the public did not agree with the juries and sent most points to United Kingdom, who had only finished 14th with the juries. It was a clear victory for the Brits in the televote, leaving Norway (11th with the juries) in second followed by United States (16th), Albania (24th) and North Macedonia. ABBA, surprisingly, only managed 11th in the televote, so North Macedonia pulled away to a comfortable victory ahead of Sweden and United Kingdom, with Switzerland and Norway rounding out the top 5.
North Macedonia debuted in GM04 and finished in the top 10 on their first two participations. Their 4th place in GM05 remained their best result for the longest time, as North Macedonia never became a constant fixture in the contest, but came and went and often changed HoD. The first medal was won by the 10th HoD in GM102, when Dimitar Andonovski finished as runner-up. Still, a handful of editions later North Macedonia again quit the contest and stayed away for 70 editions only returning as recently as in GM178. When they finally made their comeback they did so with a smash, winning their second silver medal at the hands of Lara Ivanova. It was, however, not enough to keep them interested in the game, and they have only participated a few times since their last medal. Now, Pane brings them back as the 13th HoD and claims the first gold medal for North Macedonia, who has now participated 57 times, reaching 32 finals, finishing in the top 10 11 times and winning 3 medals. Well done North Macedonia, Antonia Gigovska and Pane!
