Welcome to Geneva
"Capital of Peace"
Geneva brings the world to one small city with a huge expat population and the highest number of international organizations in any one city. In the French-speaking region of Romandy, it's easy to overhear the city's residents slip into multiple languages. The cosmopolitan city is known for exquisite Swiss chocolate, luxury jewelry, and fine watch-making. A center of international diplomacy, Geneva is often referred to as the Capital of Peace. It offers visitors an insight into many influential governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Mexico, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Albania, France, Israel and South Korea
Countries receiving points from most juries / Denmark and Norway, 20
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Germany in 11th with 10 points from Albania as highest mark
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Liechtenstein in 24th getting 12 points from Sweden
Though North Macedonia received the first top mark, it quickly turned into a threeway fight between Palestine, Norway and Denmark before Spain and United States threw their hat in the mix. When all jury votes had been counted, it was Denmark who was leading the pack ahead of United States, Spain, Mexico and Palestine. Now it was time for the televote, and as we have seen many times before, it showed a different picture. Two countries were way ahead of the rest with Mexico winning the televote ahead of Serbia (8th with the juries), North Macedonia (7th), Albania (22nd) and Uruguay (23rd). The huge win in the televote was enough to give Mexico a comfortable win and for Serbia to jump up and take the silver. Denmark - the winner of the jury vote - only finished 15th in the televote and dropped to the bronze position. North Macedonia and United States rounded out the top five. Two countries had their best result ever: Palestine in 6th place and Uruguay in 16th.
Mexico made its debut in GM16 and reached the top 10 for the first time only 3 editions later. The first triumph already came on its 10th participation, when Thalia was unstoppable. A couple of other good results followed on the heels of the victory, but then the Mexican songs seemed to pass by unnoticed until Camila took the gold in GM57. Following a change in HoD in GM74, Mexico improved its results drastically and did consistently well for quite some time, racking up another 7 medals, before that glamorous third gold was won by Sofia Reyes and Reykon in GM132. After that the Mexican star faded and only a handful of top 10 results were obtained, before the current HoD, José Mora, took over in GM172. However, he did not bring a lot of success with him, and until now he has only brought Mexico into the top 10 once. But no one cares about that now, when Mexico takes home the 4th trophy. Mexico has now participated 166 times, reaching 105 finals, finishing in the top 10 37 times and winning 11 medals! Well done Mexico, SVI and José Mora!
