Sweden received the first top mark, but quickly passed over the lead to Madagascar, who was in their first final ever. However, Sweden took back the lead after a few more juries, racking up the votes and looking like a sure thing for victory. Towards the end of the jury vote though, Bosnia-Herzegovina caught up and eventually won the jury vote. Second was, however, not far behind, while Denmark, United States and Madagascar rounded out the top 5. Unsurprisingly, as we have seen many times before, the public had a different taste, and Madagascar was the only country to finish top 5 with both the juries and the public, taking 5th place with both. Instead the televote favoured India (who finished 21st with the juries), Netherlands (13th), Serbia (20th) and Finland (18th). Neither Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sweden nor Denmark finished in the televote top 10! So this was an extremely tight fight - so close was it in fact that only 3 countries did not recevie at least one set of 12 points! However, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Sweden were clearly the overall top 2 because when all other countries had received their points from the televote, these two countries were still in first and second place respectively. Bosnia-Herzegovina outscored Sweden by 2 points in the televote and was crowned as champion for the second time. Sweden took the silver, United States the bronze and Madagascar finished 4th and Netherlands 5th.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is a founding member of Global Music and for the first 91 editions they only skipped five!. They won the silver with Feminnem in the first edition, and in the first 10 participations they reached the top 10 six times also winning a bronze medal. Another 3 top 5 results followed, before the country fell into a slump and didn't finish in the top 10 from GM17 to GM37. Then came another set of silver and bronze in GM40 and GM42 for Deen and Funky G respectively - the two artists who had together won Bosnia-Herzegovina's first bronze medal. And finally in GM47 Bosnia-Herzegovina could finally - on their 42nd participation - call themselves Global Music Champions thanks to Dino Merlin. Two more medals was won before the original HoD, Anel, passed on the baton, and the country's participations became very sporadic. It was not until Anel returned as HoD in GM171 that they seemed to find their footing again. A silver medal was added to the collection in GM181 and now Bosnia-Herzegovina finally strikes gold again. In total they have participated 127 times, reaching 81 finals, finishing in the top ten 29 times and winning 9 medals. Well done Bosnia-Herzegovina, Marko Bosnjak and Anel!
