Welcome to Stockholm
"harbourside Elegance"
One of Europe's most culturally diverse cities, Stockholm extends over 14 islands, united by a series of tunnels and bridges. Sweden's cultural, political, and financial center, the sprawling city houses some of the continent's top universities, attracting young scholars from around the globe. A cosmopolitan urban center known for both its modern and classical architecture, Stockholm draws the biggest tourist crowds with its compact old town, an island neighborhood packed with medieval churches, modern museums, and a seemingly endless string of souvenir shops. You can explore the walkable old town on foot or by bicycle, but if you wish to discover the surrounding islands, consider using the city's convenient metro system - the fastest way to reach the inner suburbs.

The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Greece, 5
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Germany, Malta, Latvia, Ukraine and Ireland
Countries receiving points from most juries / Luxembourg, 18
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Sweden in 6th place with 10 points from Israel, Australia and Ireland as highest marks
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Italy in 18th place getting 12 points from Greece
With the votes from the 7th jury, Greece took the lead and from then on managed to stay ahead of all the competitors to finish on top and claim the second gold medal. Only a handful of points behind, Iran took the silver medal, while Australia won the bronze. France and Luxembourg rounded out the top 5.
Greece was one of the founding members of the contest, but only competed in every other edition for the first 5 editions, before they became a more regular participant. Three of the first four participations resulted in a top 10 finish, and on their fifth attempt Greece struck gold in GM07 with the duo Antique. That was followed by a bronze medal on home soil and several other top 10 results, before a change of HoD occured. The current HoD, Giorgos, took over Greece in GM25 and now leads the country to their second trophy. This is actually also the second victory for Elena Paparizou - though the first as a solo artist. Well done Greece, Elena Paparizou and Giorgos!
