Welcome to Thessaloniki
"Sweet Indulgences and glorious History"
A city with a stormy history and a cosmopolitan heart, Thessaloniki attracts visitors with its diverse culinary scene, dynamic nightlife, and youthful energy. Considered one of the most cultivated and affordable Greek cities, Thessaloniki serves tourists as a convenient base for quick day trips in the surrounding region, the starting point for Alexander the Great's legendary conquests. More manageable and less crowded than its older sister Athens, this walkable city boasts a continuous history of more than 3,000 years and contains well-preserved remains of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman rulers. Fifteen of its churches, built between the 4th and 14th centuries and recognized as World Heritage Sites, represent some of the world's finest examples of Byzantine art and architecture.

This was an edition of record breaking! United States was unbeatable almost from the beginning, and when all votes had been counted, not only had they won their first gold medal, they shattered three records in the process! Highest scoring song in a final, biggest winning margin and most top marks received all now relates to United States. Way behind, Sweden won the silver, and Netherlands took the bronze, with Canada and United Kingdom rounding out the top 5.
United States made its debut in GM04 and achieved 5 top 10 results in their first 6 participations including a silver medal. In the following editions their form took a turn for the worse and the HoD changed a few times. GM29 saw a new HoD, Robert, at the helm, and in only his 3rd participation he brings victory to the US for the first time. In a total of 22 participations, the US has reached the final 16 times, the top 10 7 times and twice they have taken home a medal. Well done United States, Daughtry and Robert!
