Welcome to Porto
"Unvanquished City"
Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style. This romantic city is known best for its greatest export, Port wine, and for its old historical center, a World Heritage Site. Stately buildings, medieval structures, and Baroque churches, combined with the river and impressive bridges, give this city its character.

The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / Turkey, 4
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / Serbia, Kazakhstan and Monaco
Countries receiving points from most juries / Turkey, 18
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Liechtenstein in 8th with 10 points from Kazakhstan as highest mark
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Japan in 20th, getting 12 points from Denmark
Denmark got off to a strong start and lead for most of the voting, before France put their head forward only to be overtaken by Bosnia-Herzegovina. Despite only qualifying in 6th place, the former Yugoslav country racked up a lot of high marks, which was enough to take home the trophy for the first time. Germany finished a close runner-up, while France won the bronze on their return. Denmark and Turkey rounded out the top 5, and Liechtenstein achieved their best result ever, finishing 8th.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is a founding member of Global Music and has only missed 5 editions along the way. They won the silver with Feminnem in the first edition, and in the first 10 participations they reached the top 10 six times also winning a bronze medal. Another 3 top 5 results followed, before the country fell into a slump and didn't finish in the top 10 from GM17 to GM37. Then came another set of silver and bronze in GM40 and GM42 for Deen and Funky G respectively - the two artists who had together won Bosnia-Herzegovina's first bronze medal. And now, a handful of editions later, Bosnia-Herzegovina can finally - on their 42nd participation - call themselves Global Music Champions thanks to Dino Merlin. Well done Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dino Merlin and Anel!
