Welcome to Ayia Napa
"Partying around archaeological sites"
Though Ayia Napa boasts archaeological sites and the largest water park in Europe, the city is best known as a party hub. Once a sleepy fishing town with medieval attractions, the city has transformed into a hot spot for clubbing thanks to its beaches and ideal year-round weather. At this destination for tourists from every part of the globe, parties start in the afternoon and continue through the night. However, with its stunning coastline and huge water park, Ayia Napa also caters to families, with resorts right outside of town.

The Result
Countries receiving most 12 points / France and Denmark, 5
Countries giving 12 points to the winner / United States, Albania, Belgium, Monaco and Uganda
Countries receiving points from most juries / France, 20
Highest placing country not scoring a top mark / Germany in 5th with 10 points from Sweden and Estonia as highest marks
Lowest placing country scoring a top mark / Spain in 22nd, getting 12 points from Kyrgyzstan
The first half of the voting was really intense and interesting with the lead changing all the time, before Serbia took the lead and faced its first victory. However, its points dried up and then France came from out of nowhere, suddenly getting several high marks, and ultimately won with the 3rd highest score ever. In a distant second place Denmark took the silver, and the bronze went to United States. Serbia, achieving its best result ever, and Germany rounded out the top 5.
France debuted in GM03 and had a shaky start to their GM career, though they won a bronze medal in GM11. Two more followed in GM18 and GM47, but their results were in general up and down. Just last edition, France took it one step further winning the silver and now in its 42nd attempt the proud musical nation finally takes home the trophy. HoD Michal came onboard as recently as GM55 and has in his 6 participations only missed the top 10 once and taken home two medals! Well done Grégory Lemarchal, France and Michal!
