Welcome to Baltimore
"City of Firsts"
A major center for tourism and travel, Baltimore is famous as the city where amateur poet Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics for the United States' national anthem. One of the country's major ports, Baltimore sits on the Chesapeake Bay--a popular holiday destination in its own right. The city claims more than 300 officially designated neighborhoods (some just a few blocks large), making the metropolis a conglomeration of distinct places to visit ranging from heavily industrialized to recently gentrified. The heart of the city is its historical harbor, home to the lion's share of Baltimore's tourist attractions, including one of the world's largest aquariums. The city banks on its financial industry as well as professional and business services, education, and medical services for commerce.

Countries receiving points from most juries / Greece, 19

For a long time it looked like United States were going to make a double, but after 3/4 of the votes had been given out, Slovenia took the lead and managed to hang on to claim their first victory in Global Music only 5 points ahead of Greece, who returned to the contest with a bang, and United States winning a bronze medal on home ground. Andorra and Bulgaria rounded out the top 5. Switzerland reached the top 10 for the first time, finishing in 9th place.
Slovenia was one of the founding members of the contest and had great success with top 10 placings in the first 6 editions including two bronze medals. Following changes in the delegation and several shorter or longer breaks, the success has somewhat diminished, though Slovenia managed a silver medal in GM45. Since then they have, however, only managed 1 top 10 result until now. This is Slovenia's fourth medal and 10th top 10 result overall. For Slovenia's HoD, Anke, 13 is not an unlucky number, as this was her 13th participation representing Slovenia! Since she made her debut with Russia in GM29, she has also represented Macedonia and Serbia, before she settled with Slovenia and winning her first trophy. Well done Slovenia, Omar Naber and Anke!
