For the first third of the voting everything was open and exciting, but after the 12th jury Iraq took the lead and never looked back, reaching an all time highscore of 195 points. This record was previously held by Cyprus, who scored 194 points in GM59. United States took home the silver, and the bronze went to Finland. Slovenia and Israel rounded out the top 5.
This is Iraq's first entry in Global Music and it thus becomes the 5th country to win the contest on its debut. They join Sweden, Cyprus, Tunisia and Guatemala in this exclusive club. Seth has only been with us for a short time as well. He started of as HoD for Kenya, but after two failed attempts of reaching the final, he changed to Iran for one attempt, before he chose Iraq, making this his first appearance in a final, his first top 10 result, and his first gold medal all in one! Well done Iraq, Soma and Seth!
