Welcome to Paris
"City of Light"
A beautiful and romantic city fit for any itinerary, Paris brims with historic associations and remains vastly influential in the realms of culture, art, fashion, food and design. Considered the capital of fashion, it is home to the world's most luxurious fashion designers such as Christian Dior and Yves Saint-Laurent. A large part of the city, including the River Seine, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city has the second highest number of Michelin-restaurants in the world and contains numerous iconic landmarks, such as the world's most-visited tourist attraction, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum, making it the most popular tourist destination in the world. Its nickname, the City of Light, comes from its reputation as a center of education and ideas and its early adoption of street lighting.

Once again we were treated to a tight threeway race for victory, with France, South Korea and San Marino taking turns in topping the scoreboard throughout the last half of the voting. In the end, however, it was France who would eventually finish on top, making a "Double" as only the third country to do so in the history of Global Music following Romania and Sweden (who has also made a "Triple"). South Korea took home the silver, while Belgium won the bronze. San Marino and Hungary rounded out the top 5.
France made their debut in GM/03 and reached the top 10 for the first time in their third attempt, when they finished just outside the medals. Their first medals, all of bronze, came in GM/11, /18 and /49. Then in GM/59 France kicked into high gear and reached the top 2 three times in only 5 editions including their first victory in GM/60, when Grégory Lemarchal topped the scoreboard. More victories followed at the hands of Julien Comblat in GM/90 and just last edition with Indila. France has now competed 76 times, qualified for the final on 56 occasions, reached the top 10 33 times and won 12 medals including 4 of gold! David C took over the French delegation in GM/86 and has achieved an impressive 9 top 10 results including a silver and 3 gold medals! Well done Matthieu Mendès, Pomme, France and David C!
