Presentation
KEiiNO is a Norwegian-Sámi music group known for its unique blend of electronic pop, Nordic folk, and traditional Sámi joik. The trio is made up of Alexandra Rotan, a pop vocalist with a strong, expressive voice; Tom Hugo, a singer-songwriter with a background in both pop and rock music; and Fred-René Buljo, a Sámi rapper and joiker who brings the indigenous vocal tradition of joik into a contemporary setting.
The group was formed in 2018, originally coming together to compete in Norway’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their debut single, “Spirit in the Sky,” combined a catchy pop melody with electronic production and joik elements, celebrating themes of diversity, equality, and cultural heritage. The song won the national selection and went on to represent Norway at Eurovision in 2019, where it gained widespread popularity and received the highest score in the public vote.
After their successful Eurovision debut, KEiiNO continued to develop their sound, releasing new music that emphasized both their individual strengths and their commitment to blending modern and traditional influences. Their debut album brought together collaborations with artists from various indigenous backgrounds, underlining their message of cultural pride and global unity.
Known for their energetic live performances and inclusive message, KEiiNO has built a dedicated fanbase in Norway and abroad. Their music often explores themes such as identity, resilience, and belonging, while showcasing a musical style that is at once contemporary and rooted in tradition. As a group, they continue to evolve artistically while remaining strongly connected to their origins and values.
