Highlights

⇧ Windmills of Kinderdijk

The windmills of Kinderdijk form a striking network of 19 historic drainage mills standing along canals in the Dutch polder landscape. Built in the 18th century to manage water levels, the site is now a UNESCO World Heritage landmark and one of the most iconic symbols of the Netherlands.

Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, housed in a grand neo-Gothic building, presents one of the world’s finest collections of Dutch Golden Age art. Masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Frans Hals are displayed alongside historical artifacts that tell the story of the Netherlands.

Keukenhof Gardens, Lisse

Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse open each spring with more than seven million tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths in bloom. Landscaped gardens, themed pavilions, and winding paths through vibrant flower beds make it one of the most spectacular floral displays in the world.

Delft Old Town

Delft is a charming canal town known for its famous blue-and-white Delftware ceramics and beautifully preserved historic center. Highlights include the Nieuwe Kerk with its royal tombs and the former home and studio of the painter Johannes Vermeer.

Anne Frank House, Amsterdam

The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam preserves the hidden annex where Anne Frank and her family lived in hiding during WWII. Today the museum offers a powerful and deeply moving insight into her life and the diary that became one of the world’s most widely read testimonies of the Holocaust.

Zaanse Schans, Zaandam

Zaanse Schans is an open-air heritage village near Zaandam where traditional windmills, wooden houses, and workshops recreate life in the historic Dutch countryside. Visitors can see working mills, watch clog-making demonstrations, and taste locally produced cheeses.

Maastricht Underground Caves

The caves beneath Maastricht form an extensive network of tunnels carved from limestone over many centuries. Guided tours reveal historic carvings, wartime shelters, and hidden passageways that offer a fascinating glimpse into the city’s underground history.

Hoge Veluwe National Park

Hoge Veluwe National Park is one of the Netherlands’ most diverse natural landscapes, with forests, heathlands, and shifting sand dunes. The park is home to wildlife such as red deer and wild boar and also houses the renowned Kröller-Müller Museum with its Van Gogh collection.

Canals of Utrecht
