The Super Final
has a new Format
It is once again time for the annual Super Final!
However, in the year where Global Music turned 15, the Super Final has been revamped and now consists of 3 stages! In previous years all the songs winning medals that year competed for the ultimate honour, when they faced off against each other in one big final. This year, we have extended the field of songs to also include the best placed entry from any country participating at least 3 times in 2020 and reaching at least 1 final. These songs which did not win a medal in their respective editions, will enter the Super Final in Stage 1: The Preliminary Round. Of the 29 songs in this round, the top 16 will move forward to Stage 2: The Semi Finals, where they will join the 36 medal-winning songs of 2020. Each semi final will have 26 songs and the top 13 from each semi final will qualify for Stage 3: The Grand Final. This year we are in Washington DC in the United States, as Loren Allred won the 2019 Super Final. From The Anthem we are ready to kick off The Preliminary Round to find out which songs will progress to Stage 2. Don't miss out on having your say, when we crown the best song in 2020! Check it out here and vote before January 8th |
I'm wishing my whole Global Music family a Happy New Year!
I hope you will all have a splendid evening, celebrating in style with people dear to you.
May 2020 bring each and everyone of you lots of happiness
and a lot of great music to Global Music!

Global Music Royalty Nominees
We are looking for Global Music Royalty # 36 and you have nominated these 3 artists:
Emma Marrone
This Italian songstress has participated a massive 14 times, representing her native Italy and miniput neighbour San Marino. Her GM-career has spanned several years from her debut in GM65 to her most recent participation in GM148. She kicked it off with a bang, taking the silver medal on her debut, and she has also won a bronze medal and finished in the top 10 another 6 times, proving that she is always a force to be reckoned with.
Michael Schulte
This German sensation did not step onto the GM-stage until GM136, but since then he has participated 6 times. In itself not that big of a deal, but taking into account that these participations have lead to 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and a 4th place, his achievements become rather spectacular!
Safri Duo
Not only are they Global Music Champions, but they have managed to win 3 medals for 3 different countries: Gold for South Africa, Silver for Denmark and Bronze for Germany. Moreover, they have performed with Mexican and Senegalese artists on the GM stages. It does not become more global than that!
You decide who of these 3 artists will be named as our next Global Music Royalty!
Voting is done through the voting form for the final, so be sure to use the voting form here when voting. Only votes made this way will be counted!

With 7 participations under her belt, Julie Berthelsen has only missed the top 10 once! Even more impressively, she is also a Global Music Champion and double Silver Medallist! She has even performed in three different languages: English, Danish and Greenlandic. What more do you want?
Mónica Naranjo
Spain is the country with most participations - currently 151 - without a win. They have come close though, finishing as runner-up 5 times. The first time was back in GM.05, when Mónica Naranjo was close to victory. Her performance still stands as the best Spanish result. Mónica has particpated a total of 6 times in GM, representing both Spain and Andorra, but she has never come close to her strong debut.
Michael Schulte

"Polls & Revotes" on Hiatus
For your information, the new Facebook group has been put on hiatus for now. It was created to celebrate the history of Global Music and taking trips down memory lane to the earlier editions. Sadly, the problem with YouTube in Denmark persists. It is almost impossible for me to find any videos at all, making it impossible to keep the group running at the moment, as (re)listening to the songs is the fun part of going back in time. If someone else wants to pick up the torch and carry it on, send me a message and I'll be happy to let you run with it! Otherwise, for now the group will be inactive until further notice. REDESIGN OF THE COUNTRIES SECTION
A redesign of the section for The Countries has begun. The aim is to make the section including the country pages look better on mobile devices, so that text and pictures match. So far the African section has been changed into the new design. The changes are not huge and they are only visual, so the content stays the same with a little extra info on the countries themselves. I hope you like it and see the difference when using a mobile device. |

Global Music - Polls and Revotes
As mentioned in the last newsletter, we would have some revotes and stuff on Facebook to celebrate Global Music's birthday.
However, on a regular Facebook page, like the one Global Music has on the media, it is not possible to make a poll or vote with more than 2 different options for answers. I have thus had to create a group especially for making such revotes and polls, and it has been named "Global Music - Polls and Revotes". In order for you to take part in the voting and other new features which might be added along the way, you need to be a member of the group. I will invite those of you who am already connected with on Facebook and otherwise you can find the group here. I hope you will all take part in this extra fun feature! |

Though it's been 90 editions since we last saw them on the GM stage - mainly due to them going their separate ways - their legacy is still strong.

Global Music Royalty Nominees
We are looking for Global Music Royalty # 31 and you have nominated these 3 artists:
Alfie Arcuri
This Italian Global Music Champion has participated four times, and each time he has won a medal! What a remarkable achievement. His debut resulted in a bronze medal, and a few editions later he went home with the trophy. His last two participations have both resulted in silver medals. No other artist has managed this feat!
Feminnem
One of the most successful girl groups to come out of the Balkans, Feminnem has had their share of strong results in GM. They finished runner up in the very first edition and have also won a bronze medal plus finished in the top 10 on another two occations within their 8 participations. Though it's been 90 editions since we last saw them on the GM stage - mainly due to them going their separate ways - their legacy is still strong.
Gigi Radics
23 year old Hungarian Gigi Radics has taken part 6 times for her native country and was crowned Global Music Champion on her first attempt. She followed that up with a Silver Medal and has been to two more finals. A big star in Hungary, she has also competed several times in their ESC selection and been a judge on the local version of X-Factor.
You decide who of these 3 artists will be named as our next Global Music Royalty!
Voting is done through the voting form for the final, so be sure to use the voting form here when voting. Only votes made this way will be counted!

Amended calendar
Due to the delay of the final of the current edition and the fact that the organisers will be on holiday in the beginning of August, we can already inform you that the song submission period for GM174 has been extended. With the voting for the GM173 final going on until July 27th, you have until August 7th to select your next song. As I'm away on holiday, I will have limited access to mail and internet, so confirmation and presentation of the songs might not run as smoothly as usual. Just so you know! |
