Introduction of the televote
Global Music 172 is the first edition to feature a televote as part of the live voting!
All the 26 countries participating in the final will reveal their votes one by one in regular fashion - just as we are used to.
Afterwards the result of the televote will be presented. The order in which the televoting results are revealed is determined by the ranking of the jury result. The announcement of the televoting results will start with the country receiving the fewest points from the juries and end with the country that received the highest points from the juries.
The televote is the combined result from the countries, who were eliminated in the semi finals, but thankfully still took the time to vote in the final.
In GM172 14 of these 18 countries voted!
They are: Poland, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Finland, Ireland, China, Jamaica, Kenya, Chile, Hungary, Ukraine, Lithuania, United States and Ethiopia.
A special thanks to these 14 players for voting! The more voters we have in the televote, the more exciting the result becomes!

You have decided...
Three suggestions were put forward in the latest Poll for the Players, giving you the chance to make changes to the game.
And here is what you decided to do: 1st suggestion: Split the revelation of the votes into a jury and a televote. Result: YES, Change into a jury and a televote = 55 % NO, Stay with each country's points revealed separately = 45 % Outcome: As of GM172, the votes will be split into two parts. The finalists will remain as juries revealing their votes one by one. The points from all the semi finalists, who vote in the final, will be gathered and revealed as one combined televote, handing out points to one country at a time, starting with the country in last place after the jury vote. The individual points from each semi finalist will still be made public after the show. 2nd suggestion: Make voting mandatory for all participating players, whether they qualified for the final or not. Result: YES, Voting in the final should be made mandatory = 45 % NO, Voting in final should remain an option for non-qualifiers = 55 % Outcome: No changes will be made. If you do not qualify for the final, you can choose for yourself if you want to vote in the final or not. However, you will still be urged to so, as having as many players voting as possible will give the most fair and correct result. 3rd suggestion: Introduce recap videos of all the songs. Result: YES, I want recap videos = 48 % NO, I don't care for recap videos = 52 % Outcome: As of now, no recap videos will be made for future editions. However, as this was a really close call, I'm open for applications from anyone of you, who can and will make these recap videos. You will then be the proud Global Music Video Manager! Just send me an e-mail, if you are interested. |
The next pollSome interesting ideas were put forward by you, and we will take a look at them in the next poll.
I will contact some of you directly, as some of the suggestions need more clarification and explanation from you. Thanks to all for your engagement! |

He is the most succesful Albanian artist in the history of Global Music. Having been on the GM-stage 10 times, he can proudly call himself Global Music Champion for bringing the first trophy to Albania. In total he has reached the top 10 six times - which is a very strong achievement worthy of Global Music Royalty.
Catarina Pereira
A Double Global Music Champion for Portugal with Canta por mim in GM52 and with Mea Culpa in GM99. She hasn't returned to the contest ever since remaining one of the very few Global Music artists with a 100% winning streak - a true Global Music Royalty!
Within Temptation
Rock entries are a rare bunch in Global Music and succesful once even rarer. Within Temptation's symphonic rock sound is one of the few. Having participated 7 times in the contest, they have finished in the top 6 five times even winning two bronze medals!
You decide who of these 3 artists will be named as our next Global Music Royalty!
Voting is done through the voting form for the final, so be sure to use the voting form here when voting. Only votes made this way will be counted!
Our History is alive!
We are always moving forward into the future, searching for new music.
We should, however, not forget our past! This year Global Music will turn 15 years old, and we are currently voting to crown our champion #167! But do you also remember what happened in the early days of the contest? I am continously working on bringing the older editions online for you to reminisce about or experience for the first time. I started backwards and have reached as far back as GM81. Now I have changed tactics and gone back to the beginning, working my way forward in time, and so far the first 5 editions of Global Music are online for you to peruse. Go explore here. Do you like our early winners? |
